Two Wisconsin Teams Win Big Cheese Wheelchair Hoops Event In BD

A pair of teams with local ties won the 7th Annual Big Cheese Classic Wheelchair basketball tournament over the weekend at Beaver Dam High School.  Beaver Dam’s Taylor post scored 4 points as the WASA Bucks Prep (13 and younger) squad downed the New York Rollin Fury 34-27 in the championship game of their division.  Juneau’s Ava Finger played on the WASA Bucks Varsity (14 to 18 year olds) that defeated RHI out of Indianapolis 45-14 in the title game.

Post and Finger were both two of four players on the Bucks awarded the Ben Meinzer On & Off The Court Memorial Award given to a boy and a girl on the Prep and Varsity Bucks teams each year at the Big Cheese Tournament.

The event is usually held in Brookfield but because of COVID moved to BDHS.

Both teams will be playing in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association National Championships June 24th to the 26th in Wichita, Kansas.
