Dodge County Board Approves Sale Of Delinquent Property To Beaver Dam

12/20/17 – The Dodge County Board Tuesday night approved the sale of property with delinquent taxes to the city of Beaver Dam. The Beaver Dam Common Council recently approved the purchase of the land located along South Center Street at Ryan Cantafio’s Way, through a process similar to foreclosure.

Dodge County Corporation Council Kimberly Nass says the properties have just over $200-thousand dollars in unpaid property taxes, fees, penalties, and interest but the county only sought the property tax amount which is roughly $115-thousand dollars. Nass says with the unpaid property taxes increasing, the parcels have been non-productive for the county over the years. Conversely, she says Beaver Dam plans to use the land for downtown redevelopment purposes and to get it back on the tax roll.

While there is no specific plan in place, Beaver Dam Mayor Becky Glewen has said that it is in the best interest of the city to maintain control of the property. Nass says the dialogue between the county and Beaver Dam went well throughout the process. She says the county sat down with the city over the summer and both sides figured out a deal that would work best for everyone involved. Nass says the purchase agreement should be signed within the next couple of weeks and that land should be in city hands sometime before spring.
