(Columbus) A Columbus fueling station was robbed Monday night. The suspect forced his way into the Cenex gas station at 501 Park Avenue around 10:20pm, after the business was closed. Police Lieutenant Darrell Ward says the suspect displayed a handgun and threatened the clerk, warning her not contact law enforcement. He fled south toward Kiwanis Park with an undisclosed amount of cash in a green bank bag. The Portage Police Department K9 was brought in to help locate the suspect but was not successful. The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a dark blue full zip-up hoodie, dark-colored pants and a stocking cap. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Columbus Police Department or the anonymous Columbia County Crime Stoppers.
The Columbus Police Department is asking that anyone with information or potential video footage of the suspect contact Sergeant Mark Creighton at 920-623-5919. Anyone with information can also contact Columbia County Crime Stoppers at 800-293-TIPS (8477). Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
