1/9/12 – Fifteen publicly-owned dams throughout Wisconsin could get a total of three-and-a-half million dollars to fix, replace, or remove them. The state D-N-R says the dams have the biggest need for outside grants because of the risk they pose, and the communities’ lack of ability to do the needed work. The local governments that own the dams must now submit details to the D-N-R on what they plan to do. The Beaver Dam River dam and the Hustisford Dam are among the 15 dams due to receive money. The others are in Milwaukee, Walworth, Ozaukee, Fond du Lac, Adams, Juneau, Crawford, Trempealeau, Portage, Oconto, Price, and Washburn counties.
