A Waupun Women Will Go To Trial For Smuggling Contraband Into Prison

5/26/17 – A Waupun woman will proceed to trial on charges that she smuggled illegal contraband to her husband at Fox Lake Correctional. Laurie Skalitzky waived her right to a preliminary hearing yesterday on one felony count of Deliver Illegal Articles to an Inmate. Prosecutors say her husband was found with tobacco in his shoe by guards after the visit. The 31-year-old reportedly told investigators that she knew it was illegal to bring the tobacco into the prison but her husband was just trying to survive. He is in prison for supplying the drugs that led to a heroin overdose death. If convicted, Skalitzky face a maximum sentence of three-and-a-half years in prison.
