Waupun Schools Searching For New Superintendent

(Waupun) The search is underway for a new district administrator in Waupun. On Monday, the school board accepted the resignation of Superintendent Tonya Olson. After six years in Waupun, Olson has accepted a position as the principal of the Belleville Elementary School in Belleville, Wisconsin.

In her resignation letter, Olson noted that her new position will allow her to spend more time with family. She called Waupun “home” since 2012 and said she admired her staff’s “work ethic, nurturing attitude towards students, and the perseverance displayed in spite of some hard times.”

In a press release, Board President Bill Bruins said Olson has done a great job and the district is in a better positioned today because of her work. Olson is credited with helping the district develop a strategic plan, implement new initiatives to enhance student learning, and lead the district through the approval and construction planning for a $36-million-dollar referendum. Bruins says final phases of construction is commencing and the district is on schedule to complete renovations this year. He says the school board will begin work immediately to recruit a new district administrator.

A search firm is expected to be hired to assist with the recruitment process with the goal of having a new superintendent in place by the start of classes this fall.
