Waupun Public Utilities Restore Electric Service Following Tuesday’s Storm

(Waupun) The Waupun Public Utilities reports that the electric service for all customers was restored Friday following the devastating storm that passed through the region on Tuesday. Brush and debris cleanup will continue Tuesday and residents are being notified that they can dispose of their debris this weekend by transporting it to the city garage at 903 North Madison Street. Meanwhile, city officials are bracing for more rain. City Administrator Kathy Schlieve says that according to local weather forecasts Waupun and surrounding areas should expect approximately three inches of rain over the weekend and that a flash flood watch is in effect. The Waupun Department of Public Works (DPW) is asking residents to assist in keeping storm water inlets free from storm debris.  According to Jeff Daane, Director of Public Works (DPW), “even areas that do not normally flood could experience flooding as a result of all the debris, especially if storm water inlets become blocked.”  Sandbags are now available for residents at the city garage.
