Waupun Parade Committee Gets Financial Backing

4/12/17 – The Waupun Memorial Parade Committee requested financial support from the Waupun Common Council at their meeting last night. The committee requested $300-dollars to help pay for a bagpipe player and for posters, postage, and invitations. In the past, a parade fund would help cover the costs but the fund has been depleted from a lack of donations. Bob Patrouille, who has organized the parade for the past 12 years as commander of Waupun’s Legion Post #210, says that if the committee cannot get the money he does not know where they will get it from. Patrouille adds that he is grateful for the city’s backing throughout the years with assigning permits and putting up barricades. During the meeting, City Attorney Daniel Vande Zande volunteered to cover this year’s cost. Vande Zande believes the program that is put on is outstanding and adds that we all owe a great debt of gratitude to all those who serve in the military. Vande Zande says that everyone should go out and support the Waupun Memorial Day Parade.
