Waupun Man Sentenced For High Speed Chase

7/27/17 – A Waupun man will spend four years in prison for leading officers on a high-speed chase. Dustin Duket was sentenced this week in Fond du Lac County court after pleading no contest to felony counts of Resisting an Officer Causing Great Bodily Harm, Recklessly Endangering Safety and Fleeing an Officer; a felony and three misdemeanors were dismissed but read into the record. The November 2016 chase started when a Ripon Police officer attempted to pull over Duket’s vehicle for a registration violation. Duket failed to stop, sparking a 14-mile pursuit that reached speeds in excess of 100 miles-per-hour into Fond du Lac County. Several tactics were attempted to stop the vehicle, including tire-deflation sticks. The chase came to an end when a deputy used his squad car to force the 23-year-old off the road. The officer reportedly sustained injuries to his knee and hip. Duket fled on foot but was captured. In addition to four years in prison, Duket was also ordered to serve 12 years of extended supervision.
