A Waupun Man Heads To Trial For Injuring An Officer

5/26/17 – A Dodge County Judge found probable cause and a Waupun man was bound over for trial yesterday on charges that he injured a Beaver Dam officer during a chase on foot. Bradley A. Buechel faces felony charges of resisting an officer causing a soft tissue injury to officer as well as felony Possession of Narcotic Drugs, felony Possession of Cocaine, and a misdemeanor for Drug Paraphernalia. According to the criminal complaint, three Beaver Dam officers were doing extra patrol in the Lakecrest Drive area on May 16 at 10:40 p.m. when three people ran from one of the apartments. An officer tried to stop one of them but was able to catch up with him and tackled him. The 33-year-old allegedly resisted arrest and the officer was injured in the scuffle. Another officer assisted and they were eventually able to hold Buechel down. Buechel’s wallet was found in a grassy area and drugs were found inside. Buechel was taken to a squad and he was asked what drugs he was carrying. He allegedly said he had heroin and crack but did not know how much he had with him. If convicted, Buechel faces up to 13 years in prison. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for June 21.
