Waupun Looks At Branding Strategy

8/9/17 – The Waupun Common Council was presented with an economic development strategy at their meeting last night.  Roughly one year ago, City Administrator Kathy Schlieve brought forth a branding effort to the council to better attract families and visitors to the city. Schlieve says getting the word out about what the city has to offer and telling the story of Waupun is a priority of focus. Waupun has hired with the firm Ady Advantage to come up with a plan to better articulate city-wide benefits and market them to the public. President and CEO Janet Ady says communities that are prepared are the most successful. She says roughly 20-percent of communities nation-wide have a strategic plan. Among other things, the organization presented to the council an Economic Development logo and a city tagline – success is in our nature – during the presentation. Waupun has also partnered with Envision Greater Fond du Lac and the Fond du Lac Visitor’s Bureau group to aid in the process. Schlieve says they will reach out to resources in Dodge County in the future. Hotel room tax dollars is helping to pay for the budgeted project. Schlieve says the plan is to set 2018 implementation goals within the next two months with complete rollout of the project in three years’ time.
