Waupun Inmate Charged In Guard Attack

(Waupun) An inmate at the Waupun Correctional Institution is accused of assaulting a prison guard. Ramon Alvarado Jr. is facing one felony count of Battery by Prisoner. Last month, Alvarado reportedly became argumentative when staff attempted to move him to another cell. He was eventually subdued after corrections officers administered pepper spray. While he was being transported, the inmate continued to verbally assault the staff. According to the criminal complaint, Alvarado said he would (quote), “kill them once he got out.” When removing restraints in the prisoner’s new cell, Alvarado allegedly kicked a guard in the knee. If convicted, the 34-year-old faces up to an additional six years in prison. An initial appearance is schedule for February 22.
