(Waupun) The Waupun Common Council gave authorization Tuesday night for the fire department to hire two new paid on-call fire fighters. The move is meant to cover two openings created by the departure of one newly-hired firefighter to pursue a doctorate degree, and a retirement from the end of 2017. Fire Chief BJ DeMaa says the hiring brings the fire department roster to its limit of 30, which includes two full-time and 28 paid-on-call firefighters.
