Waupun Council Receives Update On Storm Response From Department Heads

(Waupun) The Waupun Common Council received an update Tuesday night from each department on their response to last week’s storm damage. Randy Posthuman of Waupun Utilities says straight line winds and tornadic conditions resulted in a loss of power to Waupun from its service provider American Transmission Company, along with damage to city utility infrastructure. DPW Director Jeff Daane says his crews will continue to clear brush this week before focusing their attention on the parks, which he says sustained significant damage. A dumpster for water damaged items from Waupun residents will be available at the city garage until close of business Friday. The city declared a State of Emergency, allowing for the recovery of state and federal dollars. Waupun City Clerk Angela Hull says the city will now begin the process of recording damage for possible reimbursement. Chief BJ DeMaa says city officials will next hold an “after-action review” with emergency management officials from Dodge and Fond du Lac counties.
