Watertown Man Sentenced To Prison For Molesting Teen

(Juneau) A Watertown man was sentenced to three years in prison Tuesday for having inappropriate contact with a minor. Andrew Schommer entered into a no contest plea in November to one felony count of Second Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. The 27-year-old had a relationship with a 14-year-old girl in January of 2016. A friend of the victim brought the relationship to the attention of the school resource officer. The victim refuted the claims at first but came forward voluntarily in February after the relationship ended. When questioned, Schommer initially denied the accusations but eventually admitted that he had contact with her. In addition to prison, Schommer will be placed on extended supervision for nine years.
