Waterloo Man Gets Probation On Reckless Driving Charge

(Dodge County) A Waterloo man who injured three others including himself in a two-vehicle accident four years ago was given an additional year of probation Monday. In July, Dakota Szychowski pled no contest to two reduced misdemeanor charges of Reckless Driving-Causing Bodily Harm. During that hearing, Szychowski was placed on probation for one year, was sentenced to 30 days in jail with work release and was ordered to serve 100 hours of community service. At that time, Judge Joseph Sciascia held off sentencing on the second count until yesterday. Szychowski collided at the intersection with a vehicle operated by 63-year-old Grant Steger of Juneau in March of 2015. Both drivers and a passenger in the Szychowski vehicle sustained minor injuries. A passenger in the Steger vehicle sustained severe injuries and was taken to Columbus Hospital before being flown by MedFlight to UW Hospital in Madison. The 25-year-old was also given an additional 100 hours of community service.
