The 2018 WBEV-WXRO Children’s Radiothon Is Here

(Beaver Dam) The WBEV/WXRO Children’s Radiothon is here with a 27-hour marathon broadcast to benefit ten local charities. It gets underway with a live on-air auction Thursday morning at 6am, which will continue through 9am Friday morning.

The tenth Annual Noel’s Angel Walk is at Waterworks Park with registration at 6am and the walk beginning at 7am.

John Kraft is traveling around the county Thursday as the organizations benefiting from the Radiothon compete to raise funds with the winner taking home the Annual DCS Trophy Cup.

Brenda Murphy is hosting an on-air dessert auction from 9am through 11am.

Nate’s Lemonade Stand enters its second year with a virtual toast at 2pm. Eight-year-old Nate Smith is the son of Scott and Lori Smith, who organize Noel’s Angel Walk. As part of a virtual lemonade stand, lemonade packets were previously handed out to raise money.

We will again be collecting cash donations on the roof of the radio station at 100 Bill McCollum Way.

Thursday night, the Radiothon Bash will be held at Bayside Supper Club in Beaver Dam with bingo from 4pm to 6pm and music from the Eccentric Duo Elwood Lee and Mike Roddy donating their talents from 6pm to 9pm. The Radiothon Ride wraps up at Bayside around 8pm after stops with 50/50 raffles at The Hill on Highway 151, Chances Bar in Burnett and the Thirsty Beaver in Beaver Dam.

The eleven organizations benefiting from the Children’s Radiothon this year are PAVE People Against A Violent Environment, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dodge County and Watertown, Green Valley Enterprises, YMCA of Dodge County, Clothes for Kids, Watertown Family Center, ARC Dodge County, Community Care Preschool and Child Care, Beaver Dam Area Arts Association, Church Health Services and – new this year – Community Awareness and Recovery Environment better known as CARE for Dodge County.

The 2017 Children’s Radiothon set a new recording raising $126,852.74 bringing the 20-year-total to over $1.8-million dollars.
