Tax Payers Seeking New Deductions Scrambling To Pay Bills By Years End

12/29/17 – With the new year comes a new tax law and the changes it contains has many people rushing to pay their property taxes now.  Today (Fri) is the last chance to get an income tax deduction and many Wisconsin offices are already closed for the New Year’s holiday.  In Milwaukee, the treasurer’s office will stay open until 3pm today but in Beaver Dam, City Hall is closed today and again on Monday.  Starting Monday, taxpayers who itemize will be limited to a 10-thousand-dollar deduction for all state and local income and property taxes. Property taxes are not due until January 31st, but to get the full deduction they have to be paid in 2017. In Beaver Dam, tax payments can still be paid online through Xpress bill pay or in-person at the American National Bank downtown location. If you’re not concerned about meeting the deadline, payments can be mailed in or dropped in the boxes at City Hall.
