State DNR To Increase Camping Fees At Most Popular Parks

(Wisconsin) Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says a new pricing system for camping and daily admission at state parks will soon be implemented. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that daily rates will be increasing at the most popular locations: Devil’s Lake, Peninsula and Willow River. There will be camping fee increases at 38 properties at various times of the year, while 36 locations will see fee cuts. The plan comes after state lawmakers cut funding for parks system and ordered the state D-N-R to rely on fees and revenue. The Natural Resources Board is set to review the plan on January 24th. The new pricing system is expected to be in place after February 15th.
