8/29/17 – The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office transition to a new countywide records management system is on time and on budget. Spillman will link 17 local municipal law enforcement agencies together and is replacing the problematic New World which was launched three years ago. Sheriff Dale Schmidt gave us an update recently on WBEV’s Community Comment. He says they are in the process of doing records conversion from New World to Spillman. Schmidt says the last records transfer to New World did not go well and a lot of information was lost. Steps are being taken to ensure that does not happen again with the records being first transferred to a separate data base to avoid corrupting data in the new system. The company is still working on tweaks with the building of the software but he says the majority is ready to go. Training begins next month and Schmidt notes there are a lot of people to train because of the reach of the software, both in squad cars and back at administrative offices. The sheriff tells us that everything is on pace for the new records management system to go live, countywide on December 11.
