Six Years In Prison For Convicted Felon Selling Firearms In Dodge County

(Juneau) A former Reeseville man was sentenced Wednesday to six years in prison for illegally selling firearms in Dodge County. Kirk Bintzler, who also went by Kirk Lupton, was found guilty of two felony counts of Possessing a Firearm as a Convicted Felon. Eight additional felony charges were dismissed but read into the record. In April of 2016, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team recovered roughly 35 guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition following the execution of a search warrant at Bintzler’s property in Reeseville. Tips were received from a number of people including a woman who worked as an escort for Bintzler and a man who claims to have seen video of Bintzler raping and torturing a woman. Bintzler had obtained some of the weapons by doing straw purchases at gun shows, including using another person’s debit card to complete the transaction. A confidential informant purchased multiple firearms from Bintzler in recent years. According to a press release issued yesterday by the District Attorney’s Office, the 58-year-old was also known to sell his merchandise to Mike Siegel who owns the Hardware Store in Clyman. During sentencing, Assistant District Attorney Bob Barrington said if there was ever a criminal that deserved the maximum sentence it is Bintzler and that anything less would put the public at risk. Barrington added that Bintzler lies, manipulates, threatens and brings crime into the local community. In addition to prison, Bintzler was placed on extended supervision for six years.
