(Juneau) Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the primary election revealed a need for better communication with a local police department concerning the county-wide records management system. Recent survey results from the Beaver Dam Police staff indicate that the Spillman software is working well for administrative functions back at the station but officers on the street are being met with long delays that may impact public safety. Schmidt says both sides have meet twice already to discuss any concerns. The Beaver Dam surveys suggested officers were having issues with connectivity which Schmidt says work arounds are still being developed. He says the Town of Beaver Dam also saw a connectivity issue which could mean the problem lies within the area and noted other chiefs report that Spillman is working fine. During a recent appearance on WBEV’s Community Comment, Schmidt told us that he is committed to getting Spillman up-and-running in Beaver Dam and is encouraged by the progress in communication. Schmidt says he is dedicating county IT resources to come to Beaver Dam in an effort to correct all issues brought to light by the surveys.
