Sheriff: ‘Human Trafficking Can Happen Anywhere’

8/1/2017 – Human trafficking can happen anywhere. That is the message Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt shared during a recent appearance on WBEV’s Community Comment. He says every county throughout the state of Wisconsin has been afflicted with this crime and it often goes hand-in-hand with prostitution. Schmidt says human trafficking can also be linked to strip clubs and illegal substances such as heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine. Schmidt says in order to combat this issue it takes the help of the entire community assisting with good leads and tips to help guide law enforcement. He says his office wants to help those who are suffering by finding support serves for them, help them get out of that lifestyle, and go after the people who are committing these crimes. Schmidt encourages the public to contact the sheriff’s office at 920-386-3726 with information about human trafficking.
