Salmonella Recalls Includes Honey Smacks Cereal, Pre-Cut Melon

(Madison) The state Department of Health Services says a Salmonella outbreak linked to boxes of Honey Smacks cereal is in Wisconsin. The agency advises residents to throw away any leftover boxes of the Kellogg’s breakfast cereal. There is one confirmed illness in Wisconsin from the outbreak that has sickened 73 people in 31 states. Salmonella has also been linked to pre-cut melon sold at Costco, prompting a recall from the store. Health Services officials say no Wisconsin residents have been affected but the recalled products were sold at Costco stores in the state, including the stores in Middleton, Menomonee Falls and Sun Prairie.
