Markesan will hit the road to take on Cambridge in the second round of the playoffs this Friday. The Hornets defeated Lourdes Academy in their postseason opener 34-14, and have won eight out of their last nine games. John Dunlavy’s squad is powered by a trio of rushers including Tyler Lawson, Max Stellmacher and Cayden Plagenz who have all combined for over 1900 yards rushing and 24 touchdowns. Defensive-back Zac Triggs heads a good Markesan defense with two sacks and five interceptions. The undefeated Bluejays are led by quarterback Denver Evans who has 23 passing touchdowns and running back Riley Olson who tallied 19 rushing touchdowns this season. The game will air on 1430 WBEV, kickoff is set for 7pm.
Also on Friday, Horicon/Hustisford will host New Glarus/Monticello in their second round playoff tilt. Shannon Mueller’s team has won seven games in a row including a 21-0 victory over Belleville in their first round playoff matchup. The Marshfalcons strong rushing attack has paced their current winning streak with two talented runners. CJ Brooks has over 900 yards rushing and 15 total touchdowns this season while Dylan Schmitt has over 700 yards on the ground to go along with 13 rushing touchdowns. Trevor Gassman is the top receiving target for the Glarner Knights with over 600 yards and eight touchdowns. The game will air on 95.3 WXRO, kickoff is set for 7pm.
