Rotary Club Seeks New Members, Dedicating Park

11/13/17 – A local service organization is recruiting members to join their group. The Beaver Dam Rotary offer their services to humanitarian, volunteering, and fundraising efforts. Club President Evonne Boettge says their philosophy is to promote fellowship, encourages diversity, apply expertise, and tackle challenges in the community. Club meetings are held at noon every Monday at the Old Hickory Golf Club. Members are required to attend at least 50-percent of the meetings and are billed for lunch. There are no meetings during the holidays. Boettge says if they have enough people sign up they will start offering nightly get-togethers. She says if ten people are interested in starting their own club the group would be able to meet on a weekday after work. Boettge says a current member of the Beaver Dam Rotary Club would attend. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend a meeting to learn more or visit the group’s website or Facebook page. Also, on Monday afternoon a patch of land in the downtown Tower Parking Lot will be dedicated as the Beaver Dam Rotary Riverwalk Park. The service organization has been working for years to enhance the stretch along the Beaver Dam River, investing around $50-thousand dollars to date. City residents Tom and Judy Heffron have donated outdoor musical instruments to the green space and future plans include a walking path, benches and trees. The ceremony will take place at 12:30pm Monday and the public is invited.
