Rita A. Schnitzler Weninger, 61, of Horicon passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 18, 2019.

Rita was born the daughter of Andrew and Marian (Doll) Schnitzler.  She graduated from Lomira High School.  Rita owned and operated Rita’s Country Restaurant in Juneau where she met her husband, David Weninger.  They were married on April 17, 1999.  After she sold her restaurant, she was employed with the Dodge County Sherriff’s Dept. as food service director.  Rita was also employed with the Beaver Dam School District’s food service department.

Rita enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and traveling.  She was well known for her delicious homemade pies.  Rita especially enjoyed making wreaths with her dad every holiday season.  She really had a talent for making things beautiful, whether it was her home or flower gardens.  Her two black labs, Charlie and Rocky were very special to her.  Spending quality time with friends and family was important to Rita.  She shared her talents and gifts with loved ones and improved the lives of those around her.

Rita is survived by her husband, David of Horicon; her father, Andrew Schnitzler of Beaver Dam; her father and mother-in-law: Orville and Maryann Weninger of Rubicon; her siblings: Gloria Perisee of Oak Park, IL, Eddie Schnitzler of Woodruff, Andy (Karen) Schnitzler of Theresa, Joan Schnitzler of West Bend, Carol (Larry) McDowell of Kenosha, Janet (Norm) Martin of Wausau, and Paul (Debbie) Schnitzler of Westminster, CO; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Susie Kapal of New York, Ken (Mary) Weninger of Rubicon, Ralph (Lisa) Weninger of Rubicon, Kris Weninger of Juneau, and Carrie (Jeff) Behnke of Burnett; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her mother, Marian; step-mother, Jean; sister, Elaine Mauritz; brother-in-law, Chris Mauritz; nephew, Ed Mauritz; and niece, Kelly Schnitzler.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.
