Rechek’s Food Pride To Be Blue Zones-Approved

(Beaver Dam) Rechek’s Food Pride has been selected as the first grocery store in Dodge County to become approved as part of the Dodge County Blue Zones Project. Rechek’s was recognized because of offerings of nutritional supplements at the pharmacy located inside the store. In addition, the store on North Spring Street offers a checkout lane with healthy offerings, signage that encourages water over sugar-sweetened beverages, and free fruit for kids shopping with their parents. A special ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on February 8 to celebrate the designation. The Blue Zones Project, sponsored by the Beaver Dam Community Hospital, is a community-led well-being improvement initiative designed to make healthy choices easier through permanent changes to environment, policy, and social networks.
