Randolph Man Facing Seventh OWI

(Fox Lake) Cash bond was set at $50-thousand dollars for a Randolph man arrested Tuesday for his seventh drunken driving offense. Gerald Miller made his initial appearance via video Thursday on felony charges of Operating While Intoxicated and Bail Jumping as well as misdemeanor Operating While Revoked, Resisting an Officer and Disorderly Conduct. As a Dodge County deputy was responding to a domestic incident in Fox Lake, he spotted the suspect parked alongside County Road F. While talking with Miller, the deputy said he noticed a strong odor of intoxicants and that is eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slurred. Miller’s wife reportedly told authorities that he had drank a 12 pack of beer prior to driving. The 53-year-old allegedly refused to take a preliminary breath test but a search warrant was issued and a blood draw was later taken. Miller has OWI offenses dating back to 1989 with his most recent coming in 2014. If convicted on all charges, Miller faces a combined maximum of over 38 years behind bars. A judge will decide next week if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
