Radio Legends On Stage In Unique Retrospective

(Beaver Dam) The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Good Karma Brands, the company that owns WBEV-WXRO and DailyDodge.com, joined us on our morning shows yesterday (Friday) to announce a major fundraising event in advance of our annual Children’s Radiothon. Craig Karmazin says tickets go on sale Monday at 8am for a One Night Stand with John Moser and Bill McCollum.

“I am beyond excited for this,” he says. Karmazin will act as moderator and host of the program next month at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre’s new Fine Arts Center. He says the uncensored program will be unlike anything that has ever been done before noting there is a parental advisory for people not to bring their children.

The format is simple: two radio veterans sharing war stories from their years together. A book has been rumored for years about the shenanigans Uncle Bill and Moser have gotten themselves into. This program is intended to give them an opportunity to tell the stories they’ve never told or just cannot tell on air.

The idea arose simply from stories that Uncle Bill wove together during a backyard dinner party at Karmazin’s home; from presidential assassinations to moon landings to nights of debauchery at Bruisers pub.

“By the end of the story there would be 20 people hovering, standing in a bon fire, just to try to get a listen to what he was saying.” Karamzin says.

There will be one show and one show only on Thursday evening, May 23. Tickets will cost $14.30 each… except for 14 seats in the front row which will cost $95.30 and include access to a preshow VIP party with John and Bill. All proceeds will be split between the Radiothon and the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre.

The WBEV-WXRO Children’s Radiothon, now in its 22nd year, will assist 14 Dodge County-area non-profit agencies that work with kids. It will be held beginning at 6am on June 20 and conclude at 9am on June 21.

The agencies benefitting include the county’s domestic violence shelter PAVE, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dodge County and the Watertown Community, Green Valley Enterprises, YMCA of Dodge County, Clothes for Kids, the Watertown Family Center, ARC Dodge County, Community Care Preschool and Child Care, the former Beaver Dam Area Arts Association now the Dodge County Center for the Arts, Church Health Services, CARE for Dodge County and – three new agencies this year – Bo’s Heavenly Club House, the Pregnancy Support Center and the Gathering Source.
