Primary Needed In Columbus Aldermanic Race

(Columbus) A primary will be needed in the city of Columbus where there will be two contested aldermanic races this spring. In District Three, incumbent Andrew Traxler is being challenged by both Paula Steiner and Ben Davis, forcing the primary next month in advance of the April election. In District Two, incumbent Rod Melotte filed non-candidacy and two candidates have submitted the necessary paperwork: Chris Roelke and Jason Theilen. Council President Regan Rule is not seeking re-election and no one submitted paperwork to run for the District One seat so there will be nobody on the ballot. Because Columbus City Hall was closed for the holiday on Tuesday, city officials say the deadline to file nomination papers was extended to 5pm Wednesday.
