(Dodge County) A Lodi businessman won a Republican primary Tuesday in a special election for the 42nd Assembly District. Jon Plumer defeated Colleen Locke-Murphy, Darren Schroeder and Spencer Zimmerman. Plumer will face Democrat Ann Groves Lloyd in the June 12 general election. The winner will have to run for re-election in November’s general election to keep the seat. In the Republican primary for First Senate District, State Representative Andre Jacque defeated Alex Renard. He will face Democrat Caleb Frostman in the June 12 general election before running for re-election in November. The two seats have been vacant since December when Governor Scott Walker appointed the Republican incumbents, Senator Frank Lasee and Representative Keith Ripp, to positions in his administration. The 42nd Assembly District is primarily centered in Columbia County but also includes portions of Dane, Fond du Lac, Marquette, Green Lake and Dodge counties.
