(Beaver Dam) A summer-long tour that spanned the nation will wrap up in Beaver Dam on Saturday (September 8). The tenth annual Patriot Tour for the non-profit Nation of Patriots began in the downtown area on Memorial Day weekend. The United States flag that left Beaver Dam traveled throughout the country this summer, stopping in each of the lower 48 states. There was a ceremony and fundraiser at each stop to raise money for local veterans. Last year’s tour raised over $160-thousand dollars. In the past a small contingent would leave for Madison where the official send-off took place but organizers announced this year that Beaver Dam will be the official home of the Patriot Tour. At 11am all riders will depart from Cottage Grove with a full police escort and should reach city limits at around noon. A motorcycle parade will begin on Madison Street then head to Front Street the on to University Avenue. A flag exchange ceremony will be held at Swan City Park at 1pm which will be followed by a Junior Patriot Tour for children ages five-through-12. There will also be food and drinks available during the event.
