Oshkosh Woman Sentenced For Dodge County Injury Accident

9/28/17 – An Oshkosh woman who caused an injury accident in Dodge County with medications in her system was sentenced yesterday to one year in jail. Amy Galica pled no contest in July to a felony count of Injury By Use of a Vehicle while on a Controlled Substance and had a second felony dismissed but read into the record. In July 2015, the 35-year-old was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 151 in the Town of Calamus.  Galica was northbound when her vehicle began a counter clockwise spin and went through the median into the southbound lane, where it collided with another vehicle.  Galica’s vehicle was split apart, and her three-and-a-half-year-old child was ejected while in a car seat.  Three people were taken to the hospital, including the driver of the other vehicle who had multiple surgeries tied to injuries sustained in the crash.  Prior to the accident, officers received a call that Galica was all over the road.  She admitted to falling asleep before the crash, and officers found several pill bottles prescribed to Galica in the vehicle.  She refused to provide a blood sample, but officers subpoenaed for hospital sample, which tested positive for a restricted substance. Galica had a sentence of four years in prison and five years of extended supervision imposed and stayed and can serve the one year jail with work release privileges. She was also placed on probation for seven-and-a-half years.
