10/3/17 – The Beaver Dam Operations Committee last night tabled discussion on filling the vacant position of Department of Public Works supervisor. The position opened up following the abrupt resignation of Kris Quandt after one year on the job. Chair Robert Ballweg says the vacancy may be an opportunity to explore the broader structure of city government workforce, perhaps finding areas where positions could be consolidated or where work between departments would be combined. He says departments like the water and sewer utilities and the parks department may have responsibilities that crossover resulting in efficiencies and the saving of taxpayer dollars. Ballweg notes that the employment structure has not been evaluated since the Act 10 union bargaining limits were put in place in 2011.
