(Ashippun) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a parking lot crash that caused serious injuries to one person. At around 3pm Saturday afternoon, a passenger car parked in a parking stall of the BP gas station on State Highway 67 in Ashippun backed into a woman who was standing next to another vehicle, roughly 30 feet behind the car. The reversing vehicle struck the woman, pushed her back into the door of the other car and briefly pinned her between two vehicles. The woman was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-threatening injuries. No other persons were injured. The driver of the striking vehicle fled on foot but stayed on the premises and was noticed acting suspiciously near some garbage cans. The individual was later arrested for felony Third Offense OWI, Causing Injury and was brought to the Dodge County Jail were the charges will be requested to the District Attorney’s Office. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the crash occurred in a parking lot on private property but a location where OWI and some other traffic laws apply. The incident is still under investigation. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ashippun First Responders and Fire Department and Western Lakes EMS.
