12/20/17 – An Oconomowoc woman was sentenced to two years in prison Tuesday for stealing cash and ammunition from the home of a friend in the Town of Ashippun. In October, Brittany Ericson entered a no contest plea to a felony count of Burglary of a Building or Dwelling. The 30-year-old cut a screen and broke a window to gain access to the house last year while the homeowner was out-of-town. A trail camera set to record the driveway captured an image of the suspect vehicle and that, along with blood found at the scene, led investigators to Ericson and an accomplice. 31-year-old Ashley Lowe of Oconomowoc pled guilty during an initial appearance in April to misdemeanor Theft and Operating While Revoked in connection with the break-in and was placed on probation for a year. The victim, meanwhile, had also developed his own leads after posting the vehicle images to social media. The suspects were later recorded on video cashing in the stolen jar of change. Ericson admitted to investigators that she used the money to purchase heroin and cocaine. Once released from prison, Ericson will be placed on extended supervision for four years.
