11/20/17 – The Noon Kiwanis Club of Beaver Dam is looking for volunteers to ring bells during this year’s Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. During the annual effort, volunteers collect funds outside of a number of area businesses, including Shopko, Piggly Wiggly, and Rechek’s Food Pride. The Kiwanis are looking for people to sign up for two-hour shifts during 14 days of ringing between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Most shifts are on Fridays and Saturdays. Campaign Co-Chair Rhonda Steiner says roughly 85-percent of the funds stay in Dodge County to fund one-time vouchers to aid people in need. The vouchers can pay for bills, clothing or food. Steiner says the rest of the money goes toward state projects such as disaster services and a drug treatment center. In addition to ringing bells, Steiner says the Kiwanis will collect donations at this year’s Red Kettle Concert. The concert will start at 4pm on Sunday, December 3rd at the Beaver Dam High School with safe entrances available to the auditorium. Those interested in signing up are encouraged to visit a new volunteering website called VolunteerDodge.net.
