2/4/17 – The Dodge County Fair will not have grandstand music on opening night this year. Instead, the Badger State Tractor Pull will be the headlining entertainment on Wednesday evening. Since 1984, the fair has organized a four-day concert series. Dodge County Fair Association President Doug Ninmann says the change in entertainment this year was made to allow the fair to continue securing popular rock, modern and classic country artists on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Ninmann says one of the driving factors for the change was the need to increase the entry price to get affordable acts for the concerts. He says the decision was made to instead take a different approach and find alternative entertainment. Ninmann says they had a packed house during tractor pulls in the 1990s and he anticipates that they can replicate that same excitement this year. Greg Elsing, President of Badger State Tractor Pullers, says the event will feature two tracks with vehicles driving over 25 miles-per-hour, pulling a sled weighing 40-thousand pounds. The tractor pull will include various pro-stock tractors and some of the top-running diesel trucks in the country. Each class will include ten to twenty competitors from all over the Midwest. The Dodge County Fair will be held from August 16th-through-the-20th at the fairgrounds east of Beaver Dam. Announcements of the music entertainment could come as early as this month.
