(Beaver Dam) There will be some new enhancements at Beaver Dam’s Crystal Lake Park this season. The 2019 budget approved by city officials includes funding for a new blow-up water features for swimming along with new sand and an aeration fountain. Mayor Becky Glewen outlined the changes recently on WBEV’s Community Comment. She says the sand has heavily depleted on the beach over the years and the new sand will be far less course. The aeration fountain is no longer operational and she says it is important to address algae growth to improve water quality. Glewen says because Beaver Dam does not have an aquatic center, it is important to offer enhanced amenities at existing parks. Crystal Lake Park, which is located on Beaver Dam’s east side, also has a warming station, various park shelters and a frisbee golf course, among other amenities.
