11/6/17 – A new alderperson was seated on the Beaver Dam Common Council Monday night. Kara Nelson was appointed to the Ward Ten seat that had been held by Council President Don Neuert prior to his unexpected passing in September. Nelson was elected by secret ballot by the 12 alderpersons in attendance. Casey Carney, who sits on the city’s Police and Fire Commission, was also in the running. Nelson is a Beaver Dam-native who currently sits on the city’s Community Development Committee. Nelson will serve out the remainder of Neuert’s term which runs through April. She was seated on the city’s Administrative Committee.
