Nancy Zieman June 21, 1953 – November 14, 2017

11/14/17 – Nancy’s Notions founder Nancy Zieman, an icon in the sewing world, passed away on Tuesday. Nancy’s Notion’s General Manager Mike Schuster made the announcement on the company’s website. Schuster says after a long battle with cancer, Nancy passed away at home surrounded by family. Zieman founded Nancy’s Notions in 1979. Nearly a quarter century later, the Tacony Corporation of St Louis purchased the company. Zieman remained as its chief spokesperson and creative voice. She also founded the television show Sewing With Nancy which began airing on PBS in 1982 and is the longest-running sewing and quilting program on North American television. Schuster says Zieman “not only served as an icon but as a leader who paved the way for many other women to become entrepreneurs and business leaders.” A private funeral service is planned with family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Zieman’s name be made to Wisconsin Public Television and Hillside Hospice in Beaver Dam.
