(Wisconsin) Wisconsin and the nation are honoring Dr. Martin Luther King today. The state’s official “Tribute and Ceremony” commemoration takes place in the Capitol Rotunda, beginning at noon. The program is open to the public and includes musical performances, as well as remarks by Governor Tony Evers and guest speaker Rita Coburn, an award-winning director, writer, and producer. Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes will be keynote speaker at UW-Madison’s MLK Day Celebration, which begins at 1pm in Memorial Union. MLK Day events are also scheduled for communities and campuses across the state.
