Mississippi Man Appears On Randolph Vehicular Homicide Charge

(Randolph) Cash bond was set at $1500 Wednesday in Columbia County court for a Mississippi man charged in connection with a fatal accident in the Town of Randolph last August. 40-year-old Patrick Craft is charged with Homicide By Negligent Use of a Vehicle. Christine Novak of Lake Geneva died from her injuries sustained in a semi-versus-van accident. The 40-year-old Novak was driving a van pulling a camper that was northbound on Highway 73. She was struck by a truck operated by Craft that was eastbound on County Highway E that had failed to stop at the stop sign. There were seven children in the van; one sustained serious injuries while three had minor injuries. Both Craft and Novak were trapped inside their vehicles and the jaws of life were needed to remove them. Craft has court activity on the calendar again next month.
