(Lodi) Minor injuries were reported after a small plane crashed in Columbia County over the weekend. The incident was reported around 2:10pm Saturday near the Lakeland Airport in the Town of Lodi. Sheriff Dennis Richards says upon arrival, deputies found a Sonex 393 aircraft had crashed into a field near a residence after striking several trees on approach to the airport. The plane was heavily damaged but, other than trees, nothing else was damaged. The pilot and lone occupant, a 73-year-old Town of Dane man, was transported with minor injuries. No one on the ground was injured. The crash remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was assisted Lodi Fire and EMS, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Lodi Police Department.
