(Dodge County) Cash bond was set at $10-thousand dollars Tuesday for a Milwaukee man accused of running from authorities in Dodge County. Javier McCants is facing felony Fleeing an Officer along with multiple traffic citations. The Wisconsin State Patrol conducted a traffic stop after McCants was observed last September speeding on Interstate 41 in the Town of Lomira. The 22-year-old pulled over and the trooper discovered that his temporary license plate and title were expired and belonged to another vehicle. A tow truck was called but before the vehicle could be attached the suspect drove away. The tow truck driver reportedly had to jump out of the way of the fleeing vehicle and McCants nearly struck a truck pulling a boat as he entered the traffic lane. The pursuit allegedly reached speeds in excess of 90-miles-per-hour and was called off after two miles. McCants was spotted the next day by a Washington County sheriff’s deputy and allegedly fled again at a high rate of speed by passing cars on the right-hand shoulder. If convicted, the felony charge carries a maximum sentence of over five years in prison.
