Milwaukee Man Accused Of Running From Trooper In Dodge County

9/28/17 – A Milwaukee man is accused of running from authorities in Dodge County. Javier McCants is charged with felony Fleeing an Officer along with multiple traffic citations. The Wisconsin State Patrol conducted a traffic stop after McCants was observed earlier this month speeding on Interstate 41 in the Town of Lomira. The 21-year-old pulled over and the trooper discovered that his temporary license plate and title were expired and belonged to another vehicle. A tow truck was called but before the vehicle could be attached the suspect drove away. The tow truck driver reportedly had to jump out of the way of the fleeing vehicle and McCants nearly struck a truck pulling a boat as he entered the traffic lane. The pursuit allegedly reached speeds in excess of 90-miles-per-hour and was called off after two miles. McCants was spotted the next day by a Washington County sheriff’s deputy and allegedly fled again at a high rate of speed by passing cars on the right-hand shoulder. McCants was mailed the citations and ordered to be in Dodge County court for an initial appearance yesterday. He failed to appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest. If convicted, the felony charge carries a maximum sentence of over five years in prison.
