Midwest Cream Cheese Competition Returns To Beaver Dam Next Weekend

11/24/17 – A food competition centered on a popular Wisconsin dairy product returns to Beaver Dam next weekend.  The Midwest Cream Cheese Competition is back for another year.  Beaver Dam is home to one of the nation’s two Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese processing plants. Chamber of Commerce President Phil Fritsche says there are three categories: the Ultimate Cheesecake Contest, Greatest Cream Cheese Dip Contest, and Best New Cream Cheese Recipe Contest, which can be any entrée or dessert that does not fit into either of the other categories.  A panel of judges, which includes Kraft employees and local celebrities, will rate the entries.  Cash prizes are offered for the top three in each category with $200 for first place, $100 for second and $50 for third. The competition will be held at the Watermark Community and Senior Center next Saturday, December 2nd and all entries must be delivered over the noon hour. The Best New Cream Cheese Recipe competition starts at 1pm followed by the Greatest Cream Cheese Dip at 2pm and the Ultimate Cheese Cake Contest at 3pm. The awards will be presented at 5pm. There is no entry fee. Those in attendance will be able to sample the leftover cheesecakes free of cost, once the judging wraps up.
