(Mayville) A Mayville business was recognized Wednesday for their dedication to hire those with special needs. Metalcraft of Mayville was presented with an Exemplary Employer Award from the Department of Workforce Development for demonstrating a commitment to recruit job seekers with disabilities. Governor Scott Walker proclaimed October as Disability Employment Awareness Month to highlight businesses as well as encourage others to provide opportunities to individuals with special needs. Department of Workforce Development Assistant Deputy Secretary BJ Dernbach says it is important to focus on people’s abilities and not their disabilities and commends Metalcraft for doing just that. Metalcraft of Mayville Director of Human Resources Diane Goodrich says it is an honor to receive this award. The Department of Workforce Development works to connect employers to a pool of skilled workers, help those with disabilities find jobs and oversees the state’s Unemployment Insurance, Equal Rights and Worker’s Compensation programs.
