Meta F. Behm

Meta F. Behm, 93, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

A visitation for Meta will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on October 31, 2017 at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Seth Dorn officiating. Burial will take place at the Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.

Meta was born to William and Clara (Saniter) Borth on September 7, 1924 in Watertown. On October 6, 1951 she was united in marriage with Lawrence Behm at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. In her younger years with her sisters and brother, they sang on WIBU radio station in Poynette, known as the Borth Quintet.  Meta was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, where she was a member of the Mission Aid, and Ladies Aid groups. She enjoyed camping, and playing cards and many other games. But most of all Meta enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her 5 children; Randy (Beverly) Behm of Beaver Dam, Suzanne (Dennis) DeStefano of Sierra Vista, AZ, Diane Behm of Madison, Jeffrey (Julie) Behm of Muskego,  and Janet (James) DeVries of Randolph, one sister; Norma Retzlaff of Watertown, 11 grandchildren; 8 great Grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Meta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence in 1987, son Donald Behm in 2009, brother Robert Borth, and 2 sisters, Selma Borth and Esther Suhr.

If desired, memorials may be directed to St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
